About Us

Idahoans United for Women and Families is an Idaho-based 501c4 organization. Our mission is to advocate for and restore access to comprehensive reproductive health care while promoting the well-being of women, children, and families in Idaho. Like the majority of our fellow Idahoans, we believe that we deserve the freedom to make our own reproductive healthcare decisions with privacy, and dignity, and in consultation with trusted care providers, clergy, and family members.

Board of Directors

Rev. Mike Conner:

Mike Conner is the Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Pocatello, Idaho. He lives with his wife and 3-year-old daughter in Pocatello. “As someone who provides counsel to women and families in some of the most difficult days of their lives, I know that Idaho’s current laws are needlessly criminalizing, complicating, and compromising private decisions. I want better for my community,” said Conner.

Cynthia Dalsing:

Cynthia is a retired Certified Nurse Midwife, having held a private practice in Sandpoint for over 20 years. As a respected community member, she currently serves as the District 1 rep for Nurse Practitioners of Idaho. “I know from decades of helping women through their pregnancies and deliveries: women can and should be trusted to make decisions with their trusted care provider, without politicians in the exam room. Here in North Idaho, we are living with the consequences of doctors fleeing our state, and we expect to see those impacts across every health system in the state,” says Dalsing.

Linda Dixon:

Linda Dixon, born and raised in Nampa, is a mother, grandmother, and engaged community member. In her retirement, she volunteers with a number of charities and causes, including a day shelter for the unhoused and teaching refugees English and textile skills. “As a lifelong practicing Catholic, I take seriously the call to care for one another and commit our lives to service. In the wake of Idaho’s new law affecting women's health issues, I feel called to serve in a new way: advocating for every woman in this state - this state I love so dearly - to have their dignity, autonomy, and access to essential healthcare restored,” says Dixon.

Summer Jackman:

Summer Jackman is a native Idahoan, mom of three, and insurance agent living in Eastern Idaho. “Idaho’s extreme laws are impacting kitchen table decisions, including those in our own home. We’ve had long discussions with our daughters about attending college, building careers, and raising families out of state. It’s heartbreaking because we love Idaho and the great people who live here. Though abortion isn’t ever a first choice for our family, you never know what the future brings and what emergency care might be needed. We all want our daughters to be safe and cared for,” says Jackman.

Florina Ruvio:

As a longtime Caldwell resident and a working mom, Florina Ruvio serves as a community engagement coordinator for an early childhood development non-profit. Her past roles include working to prevent child abuse as a family strengthening specialist. “As a mother, and as someone who cares about children and families, I know that access to a full gamut of reproductive care is essential to the health and prosperity of every person in this state. Idaho can’t succeed if we aren’t taking care of women and their families,” says Ruvio.

Spokesperson Melanie Folwell:

Raised outside Caldwell, Melanie is a third-generation Idahoan, community advocate, campaign organizer, and mother of two.
